MFM VS Rangers: MFM is a decent team, says Ogunbote

As Rangers International of Enugu visit MFM FC at the Agege Stadium today, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote says their opponent is no pushover as they are hoping for good officiating that will allow free-flow football.

Ogunbote told Sportinglife.ng that they are in high spirit going into their first league match with the aim of starting well this season.

“I must tell you that this being our first league match, we are optimistic that we can pull the needed result but we should not also underestimate our host – MFM FC because they are also a decent side. We are hoping that we can have good officiating that will allow for free-flow and quality football. There is no doubt that it is a
Herculean task but we are not losing hope in Lagos,” Ogunbote said.

He however admitted that playing the first match of the league might be a tough one particularly with the new set of players signed by the team this season while expressing his confident that his lads would deliver in Lagos.

MFM is fourth on the league table with three points from two matches and being their second home match this season, the Olukoya Boys will be hoping to improve their unbeaten run at home against the visiting Enugu side.

Ogunbote who led Rangers to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup however, described the group stage as tasking for his team particularly with the presence of two former champions from North Africa.

Rangers have been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia’s duo of Etoile de Sahel and CS Sfaxien as well as Burkina Faso’s Salitas FC. “This is indeed a tough group with the presence of two North African sides who are familiar with the intricacies of the tournament. Being former champions, they are experienced sides and for us we will take each match as they come with the hope that we can hold our own against them,” he said.
