Mikel has a winning mentality–Pulis

John Mikel Obi was received as a new bride in his second spell in England as Coach Tony Pulis of Middlesbrough has described the Nigerian as a player with winning mentality.

Few hours after the official announcement of his singing by Boro, Mikel went straight into the thick of things with his first session under his new manager Tony Pulis.

A delighted Tony Pulis told the team’s official website yesterday after the unveiling of Mike that the former Chelsea midfielder is coming to the team with a wealth of experience.

“I’m pleased to get him (Mikel) in. He is a man with a lot of experience and quality. He has a winning mentality and he wants to be here be a part of what we are looking to achieve,” Pulis said.

Mikel joined Boro on a short-term deal and the Nigerian journey to prominence started 11-years ago when he joined Chelsea making over 400 appearances for The Blues and winning a host of honours including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

After ending his stint with Chelsea in 2016, Mikel moved to the Far East with Tianjin TEDA of China and he made a return to English football with Boro having been a free agent since the end of the Chinese Super League season in November.

The Super Eagles captain had linked with a host of European clubs including AS Roma and Wolfsburg as well as sides in the English top flight and the Championship, but the midfielder opted to join The Teessiders in their bid for promotion to premiership.
