Nigeria internationals Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo were both in action for their respective clubs in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
It was however Obi’s club, Tianjin Teda that ran away with the three points after pipping Changchun Yatai by a lone goal scored by Ghana’s international, Frank Acheampong in the 86th minute.
Both players who are expected to make the provisional Eagles list that will be announced on Monday were on for the entire duration of the match. So far, they have made significant impact for their clubs with Ighalo registering six goals and Obi one.
Saturday’s victory was an important one for Tianjin who were recording their first away win for the season. It was also the club’s first consecutive league win as well.
With the victory Tianjin have moved to the seventh position with 15 points after 10 matches, while Yatai are 13th with the same number of games.
