Mikel wishes ‘football giant’ Ferguson quick recovery

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has joined thousands of football faithfuls in wishing Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson quick recovery after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has joined thousands of football faithfuls in wishing Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson quick recovery after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Red Devils confirmed at the weekend that the 76-year-old Scot was rushed to hospital and had an emergency surgery which was successful.

Mikel was admired by Ferguson who tried to sign him from Norwegian club, Lyn Oslo back in 2005 but after a long twist, the Nigerian eventually signed for Chelsea in 2006.

‘Saddened to hear of the illness of Sir Alex Ferguson. A giant of the game of football. Much respect and wishing you a speedy recovery,’ Mikel wrote on his instagram.

Mikel, who currently plays for Chinese Super League side (CSL), Tianjin Teda spent 10 seasons at Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles (2009–10, 2014–15), three FA Cups (2006–07, 2008–09, 2011–12), UEFA Champions League (2011–12) and UEFA Europa League (2012–13) in an astonishing 374 appearances.
