Missing Plane:  Sala, Pilot May Have escaped on Life Raft–Police

Police searching for Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala believe he and the pilot of his plane could have have made it onto a life raft following Monday’s crash.

Explaining the four potential possibilities, Guernsey Police said its search area is favouring the third: “They landed on water and made it into the life raft we know was on board.”

The aircraft broke up on contact with the water, leaving them in the sea. Our search area is prioritised on the life raft option.

The small plane the two men were travelling on disappeared from radar visibility near to the Channel Islands at about 8.30pm on Monday.

Rescue teams have been out searching since then, but have been hampered by difficult conditions and poor visibility.

Cardiff City issued a statement that read: “We were very shocked upon hearing the news that the plane had gone missing.

“We expected Emiliano to arrive last night into Cardiff and today was due to be his first day with the team.

“We continue to pray for positive news.”
