Missing valuable offers: RKC Waalwijk winger Ola John looks back with mixed feelings

RKC Waalwijk winger, Ola John, has admitted missing out on a move to Manchester United earlier in his career.

John, 28, claims he was on the brink of a move to AC Milan, before it was called off due to Benfica’s sky high demands.

Also revealing United were keen on acquiring his services, John told Omroep Brabant how he looks back on his career so far: “With mixed feelings.

“It looked good when I left. After my first year at Benfica, I was able to go to the top, but the club asked for €50-60m.

“A transfer to Milan was cancelled. There was also interest from Manchester United, but it didn’t become a transfer.

“I am disappointed. After that, partly due to loans, it didn’t go as well.

“Mentally I have become stronger and I’ve grown as a person. As a footballer, less so.

“That’s why I hope to enjoy the game that I love so much now and just play football again.”
