Ex-Eaglets star claims prestigious award at top European club

Former Golden  Eaglets’ forward, Terem Moffi, has been applauded by his father, Leo Moffi, after the Nigerian youngster was rewarded with a prestigious award at his Lithuanian professional side Futbolo Klubas Riteriai.

The club also known as FK Riteriai claimed he Most Valuable Player of the Year

“I’m delighted by his progress so far; it’s gone really fine for him and he has progressed very well,” the former Enugu Rangers’ goalkeeper was quoted saying to NationSport.

The Nigerian youngster was in an excellent scoring form for FK Riteriai in only his first season in the A Lyga with an impressive 20 goals in 29 matches to grab the Auksinis Batelis- an equivalent of the Golden Shoe award usually reserved for the player with the most goals in the season under review.

The 20-year-old also scored a goal in the Lithuanian FA Cup in the penalty shootout defeat To FK Kaunas Zalgiris after they both tied 1-1 in the first round with an additional seven in 10 friendlies matches to take his total tally to 28 in official matches.

He was subsequently named the club’ MVP of the Year, top scorer and Goal of the season awards at FK Riteriai  apart from being on official League Team of the Week nine times and Player of the Month twice.

“At the moment, he (Terem) needs a bigger platform to showcase himself,” the elder Moffi, a Barrister at law noted. “Thankfully, there have been a number of clubs in other leagues that have indicated interest in signing him on but it is left for his agent to work it all out.”
