Money man Floyd Mayweather is enjoying his retirement no doubt, a visit to his regular posts and public appearances and travels and exhibitions reveals a man who is truly enjoying the harvest of his hard work.
The money is not finished; in fact there are investments that ensure that that more money keeps coming. Investopedia puts his net worth somewhere between $700 million and $1 billion.
That is however not the news, the news is that the 42 year old has announced he will make a stunning return to the ring in 2020
The legendary boxer, who boasts a 50-win record with zero defeats, took to Instagram as he captioned a photo of himself in blue boxing shorts: ‘Coming out of retirement in 2020’. He turns 43 on February 24.
Mayweather’s news was quickly re-posted on Twitter by UFC chief Dana White, leading to talk that the pair could work together and the boxer could cross over to MMA for his sensational return.
The pair were seen together sitting courtside at the recent Los Angeles Clippers win over the Boston Celtics at the Staples Center on Wednesday night.
Only two days ago did Mayweather ruled out a rematch with Manny Pacquiao and suggested ‘health is wealth’ in a bid to quell talk of a fighting return.
He said: ‘I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth. Boxing is a very, very brutal sport.
In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle. ‘You have got to know when to hang it up. I had a great career.
‘I’ll still travel and do exhibitions. I make great money doing exhibitions; between $10m and $30million.’I think I make more doing that than most fighters make fighting.’
The last time Mayweather fought in a professional bout in 2017 he beat Conor McGregor, making £7million from the fight.
Mayweather and White worked together as part of that fight with McGregor two years ago and it proved a lucrative affair for all involved.
