Moses’ assist keeps Chelsea’s UCL hopes alive

Chelsea’s Champions League hopes are still alive. Thanks to Olivier Giroud’s first-half header from Victor Moses’s brilliant assist in the 32nd minute. The match ended 1-0 at the Stamford Bridge.

TABLE
This is how close it is in the battle for a top four place. Given the superiority of their goal difference, Liverpool know that a win against Brighton should still secure them a Champions League place but Chelsea are still in there waiting to pounce if they, or Spurs, slip up.

The Nigerian had the ball on the right, cuts back onto his left foot, drifts a cross in and there is Giroud – from a standing start – to win the header against Lovren and flick it into the far corner.

It was a very good finish and a potentially crucial goal for Chelsea to see off a jaded Liverpool side and move them to within three points of their opponents today with a game in hand, and just two behind Tottenham.
