Moses Simon:   Ndidi deserves CAF young player award

*Shocked over exclusion of Super Eagles in 2018 African XI

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has expressed shock over  non- inclusion of super eagles players in the African X1 selection by the Confederation of Africa Football  (CAF ) which was announced at the CAF Gala Night Award held in Dakar, Senegal.

The Levante player in a chat with Sportinglife.ng said the decision of the committee not to find any Eagles player worthy to be among the Africa eleven is laughable and questionable. He said, that  Super Eagles were knocked out in the first round of the Russia  FIFA World Cup should not be a yardstick for excluding the super eagles from the list because at the club level , Nigerian players are  doing exceptional well .

Simon singled out Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City who is rated among the top best midfielders in Europe.

“Frankly it is not about sentiment, Ndidi merited to be there even Troost Ekong. I was also surprised that the young player award didn’t go the Ndidi rather Achraf Hakimi from Morocco got the award but all the same, Super Eagles missing out 2018 CAF Award is for us to work hard this year to clinch the Nations Cup billed to hold in Egypt”, said Simon

He also described the Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr as a father who knows how to bring the best in any player call to camp.
