Mother’s care to keep Aubameyang out of Arsenal duel again

Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, will still not be available when Gunners lock horns with Manchester United after taking time off from football due to personal reasons.

Aubameyang has missed Arsenal’s last two games in all competitions and revealed on Wednesday that his mother was on the mend after suffering from some “health issues”.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Aubameyang wrote: “Hey guys. Thank you so much for all messages and calls over the last few days.

“My mother is going through some health issues and I had to be there for her. She is already much better now and I will be back home tonight.

“I’m more than grateful to the doctors and nurses for helping her get through this. And of course thanks to my Arsenal fam for the love yesterday! I’m more determined than ever to keep our momentum going!

“Thank you all again – I really am beyond blessed to receive this level of support and love from you all and I can’t wait to be back.”

Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane may have had a heated rivalry during their playing days but they also share a great respect for each other

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the United clash that he was not sure whether Aubameyang would be available for the game.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I spoke with him yesterday and things are looking better at the moment but we’re going to have to wait and see.”

However, football.london are reporting that Aubameyang will not be available for selection.

Arsenal’s players dedicated their 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday to the forward, with goalscorers Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette dedicating their strikes to Aubameyang.

Arteta added: “That’s what we always talk about and what we always expect to do for each other, that when someone is having difficulties that we understand him, protect him, give him our love and be right behind him because that’s what’s needed.”
