Mourinho in search of dare-devil strikers

Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Jose Mourinho, has said he’s desperately searching for dependable strikers to transform the attacking formation of the club.

Mourinho has refused to be drawn on rumours linking Tottenham with Alexander Sorloth but admitted that the club urgently need to strengthen their striking options.

Mourinho’s determination to add reinforcements to his frontline is easy to understand after a dismal showing in the 1-0 loss to Everton on Sunday.

Southampton’s England international Danny Ings has also been mentioned as a target and his proven top-flight quality would certainly bolster Spurs’ options.

But Sorloth appears very much on the radar, with Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu claiming Spurs are one of the sides interested in signing him, although it could be a complicated deal as the Norwegian is on loan from Crystal Palace and the Turkish club have an option to buy.

Mourinho said: ‘I’m not going to discuss Sorloth. If the president of Trabzonspor said that, [then] I’m not going to say that it’s not true.

‘I think Sorloth is a Trabzonspor player and it’s not for me to speak about.

‘Do we need a striker? Yes, we need it. Was it because of that we lost the game? No.

‘We didn’t lose the game because we need a striker. We lost the game and the responsibility of that defeat is my responsibility.’

Sorloth, 24, has failed to impress in his limited chances for Palace but was prolific in Turkey last term, netting 29 times and also has eight goals for Norway.
