Mourinho intensifies bid for QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze

Tottenham Hotspurs are set for a clear run at Queens Park Rangers midfielder, Eberechi Eze.

According to the English newspaper, rivals Crystal Palace and Sheffield United dropped out of the race to sign the youngster, after QPR valued Eze at £20million, leaving Spurs with a clear run at the 21-year-old.

Spurs have been interested in Eze, as Jose Mourinho looks to make his mark on the Tottenham squad for next season.

Eze has impressed in the Championship over the past couple of seasons and subsequently attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs.

But, after QPR demanded £20m for the midfielder, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United both dropped out of the transfer race.

That’s left just Tottenham in pursuit of the youngster.

Some of QPR best players over the last decade have been African stars.

Adel Taarabt’s sublime campaign in the 2010-11 season, when he scored 19 and contributed 16 assists to inspire the Hoops to the top flight, was unforgettable, as the Morocco playmaker was involved in almost half of their 71 goals.

Nine years on, albeit on a lesser scale, another prodigious talent, Eberechi Eze, is proving to be a critical figure for the West London outfit, largely carrying the can for a group certainly not as cohesive as the 10/11 title-winning team.
