Mourinho ‘left furious’ by Bale’s ill-timed Instagram post

Jose Mourinho has been fuming over Gareth Bale’s Instagram post after he was left out of the Tottenham team to face Everton.

Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup following a dramatic 5-4 defeat to the Toffees on Wednesday night.

And there was no place in the squad for Bale, who has been hugely disappointing so far in his loan spell from Real Madrid.

Explaining Bale’s absence at full-time, Mourinho said: “Well I think it’s better for me to say. So we played against West Bromwich on Sunday and he didn’t play.

“On Monday I was a little bit surprised by him wanting to have a scan because he was not comfortable with some muscular area.

“So he didn’t train on Monday and then on Tuesday he trained with the team but I was informed that his desire would be to work with the sports science for a couple of days to strengthen that area where he’s not feeling comfortable. That’s the reason why he’s not here.”

The comments hinted at some tensions between the two – and it is according to the Daily Express Bale did not help matters with an Instagram post he made as the team were travelling to Liverpool without him.

Bale shared a picture of himself in training along with the caption “Good session today”.

This led many to point the finger of blame at Mourinho for the 31-year-old’s absence, believing Bale to be fit to play.
