Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has distanced himself from the alleged petition from a group of players demanding for N300m outstanding wages from Warri Wolves, SportingLife.ng can report.

According to reports earlier this week, the newly signed Stoke City star alongside 33 others wrote to
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) concerning their unpaid sign-on fees and salaries.

Interestingly, the embattled Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick was Chairman of
Warri Wolves in 2004 while Etebo represented the club between 2013-15 before moving to Portuguese side,
Feirense and after a loan spell at Las Palmas he joined Stoke City.

“It’s a shame that Etebo’s name has been mentioned here but the truth is he does not have anything to
do with the written petition,” a close source to the player revealed to SportingLife.ng.

“Etebo was treated like a son by Pinnick during his time with Warri Wolves and he respects him as a
father. He has no part to play in the report to the EFCC and will like to concentrate on his football.

“He is focus on doing well for Stoke City at the moment and will not like distractions,” he added.

Etebo enjoyed a successful debut at the FIFA World Cup with the Super Eagles even though Nigeria failed
to make it out of Group D after a gallant 2-1 defeat against Argentina in the final group match.
