Napoli suffer heavy defeat from Benevento without Osimhen

Serie B side Benevento beat Napoli 5-1 in a friendly encounter at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Luciano Spalletti massively rotated his side as many Azzurri are on international duty. Only Kostas Manolas, Fabian Ruiz, Matteo Politano and Hirving Lozano were the first-team players available for the match against Fabio Caserta’s side.

Benevento scored twice in the first half with Giacomo Calò and Riccardo Improta.

Napoli got back in the game through a penalty kick scored by Politano in the second half, but goals from Daam Foulon, Roberto Insigne and Bruno Umile gave the visitors a remarkable win against the Azzurri, although in a friendly encounter.

Napoli have six points after the opening two Serie A games and face Juventus on Saturday at the Stadio Maradona.

Benevento picked three points from two Serie B games and host Lecce at the Ciro Vigorito on Friday.
