Napoli are preparing to offer Edinson Cavani a huge £6million-a-year deal to bring him back to the San Paolo, seven years after leaving for PSG.
The Uruguayan spent three goal laden seasons with the Serie A side, smashing in 104 strikes in 134 games and winning the Coppa Italia in 2012.
Those stats earned him a £58m move to PSG in 2013, leading the line for the French giants through the rest of the decade and forming powerful attacking partnerships with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Angel Di Maria, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
However, the 33-year-old has finally been displaced this season, with loan star Mauro Icardi scoring 20 goals in 31 games this term.
Cavani has not signed a new deal keeping him in France for 2021, and with the striker halfway out the exit door already, Napoli are lining up a sensational return, according to TuttoSport.
Cavani would be more than welcome back at the San Paolo, with Napoli enduring a difficult season after their second place finish last term.
The Naples side sacked Carlo Ancelotti in December, bringing in Gennaro Gattuso, with their maverick owner Aurelio De Laurentiis threatening to dock players’ wages after a slow start.
They now sit in sixth, 24 points adrift of league leaders Juventus after 26 games – scoring just 41 goals.
Cavani’s season has been just as unsuccessful, managing just four goals in Ligue 1.
He has already been linked to a move to the MLS this season, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami a possible destination.
Boca Juniors have also shown interest, with the club’s president aiming to sign Cavani in the summer. However, he has now reversed that claim, saying the star would cost too much.

Cavani will leave PSG as their all-time top scorer, currently sitting on 200 goals after playing 301 games.
