All is set for the opening ceremony of the 19th National Sports Festival billed to hold today (December 6th) inside the Mainbowl of the Abuja National Stadium with 7, 227 athletes competing for honours in the various sporting events with 35 states of the federation including the host FCT to signal the commencement of the competition.
Sportinglfe gathered from the venue of accreditation centre that all the states that sent in their entries have been accredited except Ebonyi who will not be part of the festival due to undisclosed reasons.
The National Festival touch will arrive the city of Abuja on Wednesday morning after the tour of the area councils before the opening ceremony slated for 4 p.m today.
The host Minister Malam Musa Mohammed Bello assured that all the athletes, technical officials and state delegates will be adequately taken care of in terms of security, accommodation and logistics .
“We have put all necessary logistics to ensure that the festival is hitch free. We have equally arranged good transportation system for the delegates in all venues . We carefully selected the sports to be competed for,” said Bello.
