National Youth Games: No accommodation as athletes sleep under the trees in Ilorin

Things are really not going well with most of the states Contingents to this year’s National Youths Games, NYG as organisers have not provided accommodations for the athletes.

The unfortunate situation has led to the young lads sleeping under the trees while waiting for the organizers to sort out the accommodation for them.

Speaking to Ajasanews.com, one of the state officials who obviously did not want the name on print lamented the condition the young athletes have been made to face in the name of participating in a tournament.

The official stated further that since their arrival they have been sleeping under the trees as the university where they normally camp is still been inhabited by the students who are still in session.

“I want to tell you that since we have been coming for this youth games this is the worst we have experienced. No proper arrangement by the organizers and the young girls and boys may be exposed to malaria as a result of mosquito bites.

“I just wish they find a solution to this situation on time because if it continues like this for say another two days we will not have athletes to compete because they will all be sick,” the official stated.

You may want to recall that the games have suffered some postponement due to some logistics problems by the organizers. The Game is now scheduled to commence on October 15 as against the initial date of 10th.
