NATIONS CUP QUALIFIERS: NFF undecided over Asaba, Benin venue

Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba and Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin are both still in the running to host Super Eagles next 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone next month.
The Eagles are in the pole position in the AFCON Group L Qualifiers ahead of Benin Republic, Sierra Leone and Lesotho with the maximum six points from the two games played against the Squirrels of Benin Republic (2-1)and Crocodiles of Lesotho (4-2) held late last year in Uyo and Maseru respectively.
The Communication Director, NFF, Ademola Olajire affirmed that the football house is yet to decide between both venues the stadium that would host the AFCON Qualifier but that a decision on that would be made public very soon.
“We are still making consultations before we agree on the date for our home clash with Sierra Leone. We are aware both games must come up between November 9 and 16 and we shall soon rule on the date for the home fixture with them,” Olajire said in an interview.
“We are yet to categorically affirm the venue for the game yet. But it is between Asaba and Benin. We are going to make a pronouncement on it very shortly.”
The double-header with Sierra Leone ought to have held in March but it was shifted because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
