Nations Cup: Super Eagles to know group opponents Tuesday.

 

Three time African Champions Super Eagles will know their group opponents in the next edition of the Nations Cup on Tuesday.

Draw for the Continental diadem will be held at the Yaounde Conference Centre on Tuesday with creme dela creme of African sports expected to grace the occasion.

Nicknamed the ‘city of seven hills’ because of its picturesque landscape made up of many mountains and valleys, all eyes will be on Yaoundé next week.

Located at the top of the Nkol-Nyada hill, the Yaounde Conference Centre will host the draw. It’s certainly one of the most anticipated moments not only in Cameroon but from around the African continent.

The draw for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021 will determine the group composition for this second edition of the 24-team continental tournament scheduled for 09 January to 06 February 2022.

Nigerian sports presenter Mimi Fawaz and Cameroon radio legend Leonard Chatelain will host the event. It wouldn’t be the first time Fawaz will host CAF event, in January 2017, she did a sterling job as a co-host of the CAF Awards 2016 in Nigeria.

The Eagles clinched the Nations Cup in 1980, 1994 and 2013.  At the last edition 2019 in Egypt, Algeria defeated Senegal by a lone goal at the Cairo international stadium to emerge champions.  The Eagles settled for the  third place  beating Tunisia by a lone goal as well thanks to a third minute goal by former Manchester United ace Odion Ighalo.
