Ndidi, Iheanacho in action as Cardiff grab surprise 0-1 win

Super Eagles duo of Wilifred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were in action as Leicester City suffered a surprise defeat in the hands of visiting Cardiff on Saturday.  The visitors left the victory so late in the day that it was practically impossible the foxes to remedy the situation.

Dangerman Víctor Camarasa grabbed the goal in the second minute of added time. Ndidi as usual enjoyed full 90 minutes action picking his usual starting shirt for the club.

Iheanacho who missed the much celebrated 2-1 defeat of Manchester City few days back, on this occasion came into the game in the 68th minute in place of Jamie Vardy. Cardiff stood their ground despite boasting of only 43% possession.

While Leicester never expected the defeat it was a jackpot for Cardiff who were enjoying a win away from home in the Premier League, especially coming against a team that had equally shocked Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

There are strong indications that Iheanacho will continue to get minimal play time considering fans reaction when he was introduced in the game. Leicester coach Claude Puel eager to break the deadlock just before the defeat made two calls.

He replaced Marc Albrighton and Vardy, the team’s two best players of late, and sent on Rachid Ghezzal and Kelechi Iheanacho. Vardy’s departure with more than 20 minutes left triggered boos in the home crowd. But Ghezzal made a contribution to Leicester nearly taking the lead.

It was his one-two with Maddison that led to the penalty which should have given the host the lead but was saved by goalkeeper Etheridge.
