Ndidi: Nigeria, Leicester City face fresh injury scare

Leicester City officials are struggling to keep Nigeria defensive midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi’s physical condition in perfect shape after he was substituted against Everton on Wednesday.

Brendan Rodgers led technical crew will be keeping their fingers crossed to watch Ndidi closely with the help of the team doctors to ascertain the state of the injury.

The Super Eagles star has not suffered a serious injury after the midfielder was substituted in the first half at Everton.

Shortly after the Toffees had taken the lead through James Rodriguez’s 20-yard strike, Ndidi started limping, before calling for treatment from City’s physios.

After work on his left hamstring, it was decided he could not continue, and he was replaced by Papy Mendy.

Although Ndidi was able to walk off by himself, if the injury proves to be serious, it will come as a huge blow to City, who have not long had the midfielder back from a groin injury.

He missed eight Premier League games with that issue, City winning four and losing four during his absence. Since his return, they have won six, drawn one, and lost just one of the eight league games he has played.

Ndidi had been one of City’s better performers at Goodison Park before his injury, City starting really brightly, producing some excellent football, before Rodriguez’s goal against the run of play.

With this development, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, will also be having sleepless nights on how to manage the ‘possible’ absence of Ndidi in the national team engagements.
