Ndidi regrets Foxes fifth Premier League position

Nigeria defender, Wilfred Ndidi, has said he was not satisfied with the Leicester City final position on the Premier League table, saying it was a great experience after all.

The Super Eagles player who was rated as the best tackler in the week-long series appreciated the Foxes fans across the world for staying behind the team even throughout the Covid-19 lockdown.

He however regretted that the die-hard supporters were restricted to enter the stadium to cheer them up when the chips were down.

“We are a bit disappointed to finish 5th. But overall. It was a great season!! I want to, first of all, thank our fans for being with us even when the stadiums were empty due to the pandemic, it was indeed a season to learn from and grow into next season thanks for support #foxes”, Ndidi posted on his twitter handle.

In the just-concluded season, Ndidi made 129 successful tackles alongside Wan-Bissaka, while Pereira garnered 119 tackles.

Since his move from Belgian top-flight side Genk, the 23-year-old has been outstanding for the Foxes in the English elite division.

In his first season, the Super Eagles star topped the tacklers’ chart with 138 successes and in the process was named as Leicester City’s Young Player of the Year for the 2017/18 season.

He repeated that feat the following season after garnering 144 tackles ahead of Idrissa Gueye (143) and Wan-Bissaka (128) – making history by becoming the first player to lead the top of tackle charts for two consecutive seasons.
