New Coach Folabi Ojekunle declares mission at kogi United

 

Newly appointed coach of Kogi Utd Folabi Ojekunle ‘Foley’ has stated that he has been mandated to bring the Lokoja based club to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Ojekunle who has a UEFA B coaching licence told SportingLife days after he was unveiled to the fans of the club by Governor Yaya Bello that he has also been assured of getting maximum to actualise the target set for him.

“The mandate is to bring the club to NPFL. Though they were relegated from the NNL at the end of last season but they are planning to buy back an NNL slot.

“They have also assured me that they’ll give me maximum support to excel and no one will interfere in my selections.”

Though Ojekunle disclosed that he has already met with some of the old players having watched about seven of the club’s matches last season but he still promised to assess the squad again when he resumes next month and see which areas that will need reinforcement.

“I haven’t met with the old players officially but I was opportune to watch about seven of their league matches last season.

“I will resume officially by November and will have a look at them and see what areas I will have to strengthen in order to have a strong team that can challenge for promotion.”

He also thanked Governor Bello, the CSO Alhaji Abdulmalik Sulaiman and chairman of the club, Honourable Abdulmalik Issah Dolley for promising to give him total support.

“The Executive Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello promised to give me his total support. He told me that he’s satisfied with my rich CV and wealth of experience and that I should use that to make the team one to be reckoned with.

“Honestly I want to thank Governor Bello, The CSO Alhaji Abdulmalik Sulaiman and the team’s management led by  Honorable Abdulmalik Issah Dolley, I hope to reward their trust in me.”
