Newcastle United boss, Steve Bruce, has admitted some envy of Everton over their transfer spending.
Fans fear a lack of direction and have criticised recent performances, with Newcastle surrendering at Manchester City on Saturday. Bruce, however, is adamant that they are performing as expected.
“I’m putting the simple facts out there,” he said. “I can understand the frustration but we are where we are.
“We’d all love to have what Everton have been able to do over the last two or three years [in terms of spending] and certainly, since I left Aston Villa, the spending power that has propelled them up the league.
“Of course, we’d like to be able to do that, but unfortunately we are where we are. Unfortunately, this is where we are at this particular moment.”
