NFF boss reveals why Nigeria lost to Algeria

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has admitted the Super Eagles missed the trio of Joe Aribo, Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo in their loss against Algeria’s Desert Foxes.

The midfielders pulled out of the game through injuries and remain doubtful for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone and the Benin Republic.

The Eagles suffered a 1 – 0 defeat against the African champions on Friday, with Gernot Rohr feeding Semi Ajayi and debutant Frank Onyeka in the midfield.

Reflecting on the game, Pinnick said the performance against Algeria isn’t the best but optimistic about the future.

“Nigeria vs Algeria – Not a great game but indeed a great future.”

“Truly we missed the super, imposing and majestic presence of Aribo, Etebo, Osimhen, especially Wilfred Ndidi. In God we trust,” he said via Instagram.

The three-time African champions will battle Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles on Tuesday night.
