NFF chieftain Ofo-Okenwa to be buried Friday

Nigerians have been asked to return to God for His love to heal the country from its numerous challenges.

Very Rev. Osondu Ekweremadu of Trinity Methodist Church, Enugu, said this in a homily he delivered on yesterday in Enugu at the Service of Songs for the late Hon. Chidi Ofo-Okenwa, Chairman of Enugu State Football Association and member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at his Enugu residence.

Ofo-Okenwa would be finally buried on Friday, July 24, at Obinagu Uno in Akpugo community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State after a church service.

Ekweremadu, citing from the Holy Scripture in the book of Luke 15, said that like the prodigal son, Nigerians should come home to God’s fatherly waiting hands.

“No matter how Nigerians are far from God; He is ever willing and ready to accept us back as exemplified in the story of the prodigal son.

“No sin or abomination is grievous for God not to accept us back and heal the nation from its numerous challenges caused by disobedience and taking to our own ways.

“We must get ready to reject sin and all forms of lust and draw near to our Heavenly Father, the author of life,’’ he said.

Nkem Okenwa, brother to the deceased, thanked the Church and all those that attended the service and for standing with the family at it’s trying time.

“I am overwhelmed with the support, solidarity and prayers from you people, who came from far and near to be with us,” he said.
