NFF confirms receipt of N75m cheque for Falcons

Nigeria women’s national team, the Super Falcons have been presented with the Cheque of N75m promised them by Dangote Group owner, Aliko Dangote and BUA group CEO, Abdul Samad for winning the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

The presentation was done on Thursday at the private residence of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick in the presence of the federation’s partners, sponsors, NFF executive members and stakeholders.

About a dozen players of the Super Falcons – nine –time champions of Super Africa – came with a couple of backroom staff, were in attendance.

Amongst them were Captain Onome Ebi, Francisca Ordega, Asisat Oshoala, Tochukwu Oluehi, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Christy Ohiaeriaku, Rasheedat Ajibade, Faith Michael, Josephine Chukwunonye, Osinachi Ohale, Halimat Ayinde, Saran Nnodim, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Glory Ogbonna who were joined by the Head of Women Football Ruth David and Team Administrator Mary Oboduku.

“The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the sum of N50 million to the Super Falcons by Dangote Group, immediately followed by the presentation of the sum of N25 million to the team by BUA Group.

 “A night of conviviality, sense of fulfilment for a glorious year and conviction of an even more glorious incoming year was capped with Akinwunmi and Dikko presenting special luxury hampers to the Federation’s partners and sponsors,” read part of the NFF statement.

The Super Falcons kick start their World Cup preparations with a four nation tournament in China next month and the Cyprus tournament in February.  Nigeria has been drawn against France, Norway and Korea Republic in Group ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup next June.
