Nigeria the best team in Africa – Modric

The Super star of the Croatian team Luka Modric has played down the gap between them and the Super Eagles of Nigeria per FIFA Rankings ahead of their clash tonight at Kaliningrad.

Croatia are ranked higher than Nigeria in the monthly FIFA Rankings as they are 20th while Nigeria are placed in the 48th position base on the last rankings released by FIFA and coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr made reference to it during his interaction with the media ahead of tonight’s game.

Modric was asked about it when he attended the pre match conference ahead of the game tonight and the Real Madrid ace was quick to play down the significance of the FIFA Rankings.

“I don’t think we are favourites going into tonight’s game because the first game in every tournament is usually very difficult. The gap in the rankings doesn’t concern us a team because everybody know that Nigeria are a quality side. Perhaps the best in Africa”, Modric said.

“They like to play with pace, speed and strength and that is something we have to deal with in tonight’s game and not what is on the FIFA Rankings. We’ll play our game using our quality against a solid team in Nigeria “, he concluded.
