Nigeria keen on hosting female Volleyball Championship

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod has revealed that Nigeria will bid for the hosting of U-21 Female Africa Volleyball Nations Cup as part of  strategy to grow the game at the age-grade level, having successfully hosted the male edition of the championship in Abuja.

Nimrod while speaking to Sportinglife.ng in Abuja said Nigeria has the financial capacity and facilities to host any Volleyball tournament including the senior Nations Cup.

He said the recently concluded u-21 Africa Volleyball championship won by Tunisia and Nigeria placing 5th has given the boys confidence that they can do well in future given the high standard displaced by team Nigeria.

” I must let you know that an Africa female under age championships has never been held in our country. The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) will bid to host the u-21 female Africa Nations Cup”. Our girls needs such competitions to develop to a serious national team that can win the volleyball world cup in future,” said Nimrod.

The Volleyball administrator also stated that as soon as Nigeria is given the nod by the Confederation of Africa Volleyball to host the event, the team will embark on a training tour of Africa.
