Former Nigeria International player, Taribo West has said that Nigeria lacks the required capacity to
develop grassroots football.
The Ex Ac Milan defender hinted that the country must return to the basics to get it right as it has
happened in other climes.
“When the grassroots is functioning and well managed there won’t be need to worry about what the future
has to offer.”
“If we are to get it right, there is need to go back to the basics and catch them young,” the Atlanta
1996 Olympic Gold Medalist concluded.
“Football development is one that you need reservoir to make progress. We need to have a grassroots
driven programme in Nigeria,”
“Nigeria needs administrators who are dedicated to tap into the vision of grassroots development in
order to catch them young and also introduce young footballers to the technicalities of the game on
time,”the ex AJ Auxerre star told Footballlive.
