Nigeria/Libya: Gov. Udom slashes match tickets by 50%

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Akwa Ibom state government have decided to slash the match ticket prices for the crunch 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Super Eagles and their Libya counterparts by 50% to ensure maximum turnout and home advantage supports, sportinglife.ng can report.

With this development, the popular stand which would have cost N1,000 will now be purchased for N500, while the Very Important Person(s) VIP stand which was for an initial amount of N2,000 will now go N1,000 only.

The tactic used by the NFF and the Akwa Ibom government of Nigeria is similar to what the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) did when they announced that the reduced tickets for their fixture against Nigeria scheduled for November at the legendary FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The move is expected to see the 30,000 capacity Godswill Akpabio International Stadium full when the Super Eagles take on Libya in the first leg of the double header scheduled for Saturday, October 13.

The Libyans are top of group E after just two matchday games with the double header clash important to both countries hopes of qualifying for the tournament which will be hosted in Cameroon.

Libya top the group with four points after their 5-1 victory against Seychelles in June last year and goalless draw recorded away to South Africa last month.

Already the Eagles have commenced their official training for the clash with the full complement of players with the exception of Odion Ighalo and Bryan Idowu who are expected in the camp later today.
