Nigeria v South Africa: Baxter retains starting X1 that shocked Egypt

South Africa head coach Stuart Baxter has retained the same line up that shocked the Pharaohs of Egypt for tonight’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash against Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Cairo International Stadium.

In goal is Rowen Williams while Kamohelo Mokotjo, Bongani Zungu, and Dean Furman will anchor the midfield.

While Percy Tau and Lebo Mothiba partner Thembinkosi Lorch, who was the match winner against Egypt.

With Lorch starting means Themba Zwane who missed the previous match due to suspension is dropped to the bench.

They may be the underdogs ahead of tonight’s match, after winning two of their last 14 meetings against Nigeria, but after shocking Egypt in the Round of 16, South Africa has become one of the tournament favourites.

Their most recent vi9ctory against the Eagles was in 2017 in Uyo which they won 2-0 in a Nations Cup qualifier.
