Nigeria vs Algeria: Desert Foxes clash good test for Super Eagles – Rohr

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr is looking forward to see how new squad members will perform against Algeria and Tunisia during their international friendly games in Austria.

Rohr will be without Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Jose Aribo for games but the Franco-German tactician could hand Frank Onyeka and Samson Tijani opportunities to impress in their absence.

The Super Eagles lost to Algeria in their last meeting back in 2019, Rohr however insisted, he’s desperate to see how the new boys perform during the game, rather than seeking revenge.

“I want to see our new players, I want to see good football. The two games will be interesting and its a good test for us.”

“It is neither a friendly nor a revenge game. It is a preparation, test game where we try out new players and we have a new midfield.

“We’re missing three of our best midfielders and we have to see how the new boys blend in & still play beautiful football,” Rohr was quoted as saying during a news conference on Thursday.

Nigeria and Algeria will square up on Friday at the Worthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt in Austria, with the Eagles hoping to end the Desert Foxes 18 games unbeaten run.
