Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward, Ahmed Musa has predicted a 4-0 scoreline in favour of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in today’s 2019 AFCON qualifier against the Pirates of Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.Despite already booking a ticket to Africa’s flagship tournament, Musa who will lead the Eagles out for this match stressed that Nigeria needed to beat Seychelles in an emphatic manner to boost the confidence of the lads as they prepare for the Nations Cup in June.
“Yes, we have qualified already, but there is something called pride. And also, we need to be in the mood for the match against Egypt, and again take this as part of the preparation for the Cup of Nations. The Cup of Nations is less than three months away so our preparation has already started. The bigger picture is the thing.
“That’s the reason I’m predicting a 4-0 scoreline in favour of the Eagles and this is not in anyway underrating Seychelles. My teammates know that we have to use every opportunity play very well”
Musa who became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in Russia last year has already warmed his way into the hearts of football fans in Asaba who swarmed all over him at the Eagles’ training sessions since camp resumed last Monday.
Ahmed and Alex Iwobi required extra security to leave the training ground last Wednesday
as the fans in Asaba stood in that ‘guard of honour’ line as the national team walked out of the stadium.
CAF has named Cape Verde official Fabricio Duarte as the referee for today’s match. His compatriot, Jose Carlos Alexandre Pina Mendes is the assistant referee 1, with Delgade Fernandes Wilson Jorge as assistant referee 2 and Delgado Rocha Lenine as the fourth official.
The match commissioner is Martin Gomez from The Gambia, while Togolese Latre-Kavi Edzona Lawson Hogban will be referee assessor. The match commences at 4 pm.
