Nigeria will win gold medals in Tokyo – Sports Minister promises

Sports Minister Sunday Dare has promised to do everything within his reach to ensure that Nigeria wins gold medals at next year’s 2020 Olympic Games to be staged in Tokyo, Japan.

The minister who made this known to Sportinglife.ng said athletes that won gold in the just concluded All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco will be giving priority and adequate exposure to enable them to excel in Tokyo.
Dare said Olympic Games is the gathering of the world’s best where the best compete against each other and Nigeria must go to the games with the best in our land.

“Our target is not only to win any colour of medal but to win gold which is meant for the best. I will ensure that athletes who qualify for the Olympics are given good exposure. More attention will be given to sports with comparative advantage,” he said.

The Minister further stated that he has directed the federation Presidents whose athletes have qualified for the Olympics to commence camping immediately and monitor of their athletes based abroad.
