Nigerian born Musiala named in top 20 U-20 to light up bundesliga season

 

Nigerian born Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala topped the list of enterprising young players under 20 to watch out for in the new season.

The 18 year old just back from Euro 2020 Championship where he featured for Germany is one of the breakout stars of  the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign, registering six goals and one assist, whilst becoming Bayern Munich’s youngest ever UEFA Champions League scorer.

England and Germany battled it out for his allegiance, with the teen ultimately plumping for his country of birth.

Musiala didn’t disappoint at Euro 2020 as he became Germany’s youngest player to appear at a major finals. Although Die Mannschaft went out to the Three Lions in the last 16, the former Chelsea youth player has time on his side and the necessary abundance of quality to redress the balance.

Born in Germany to a British-Nigerian father and German mother and raised mainly in England, Musiala was at liberty to decide whether to play for England, Nigeria or Germany, he chose Germany with former Germany coach Joachim Loew paying a prominent role in convincing him to do so while giving him the opportunity to showcase his skill.

He did not disappoint and has been tipped to take the new bundesliga season by storm. Some other youngsters expected to light up the Bundesliga this season include Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund.

The England international made running the show look like child’s play during his debut season with Borussia Dortmund, and didn’t put a foot wrong at the UEFA 2020 Euros.

Bayern Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz,Lazar Samardzic of RB Leipzig,Hertha Berlin’s Luca Netz and Georginio Rutter of Hoffenheim among others.
