Nigeria’s Watford forward set for weeks on the sideline

Watford have confirmed that Nigerian youngster Dapo Mebude will sideline for weeks after picking up an injury against Stevenage on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old was stretchered off with a back injury and was taken to hospital in the pre season game against the championship side.

Scans revealed the injury isn’t that serious and he has been released to return home from the hospital.

The forward will now be assessed by the club’s medical team who will determine the number of days he will be out of action.

The injury is a set back to Dapo Mebude’s quest of fighting for a place in the first team squad for next season.

The Nigerian born Scottish youth international spent last season on loan with Scottish side Queen of the South where he scored twice in eleven matches.

Dapo Mebude has represented Scotland at the youth level, but he’s very much eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior international level.
