No clause in Gattuso’s contract

Napoli coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has reportedly convinced President Aurelio De Laurentiis to renew his contract without the usual clause.

The Partenopei patron usually inserts an onerous clause in the agreement with his coaches should the deal be terminated early, but the Calabrian will, according to Il Giornale, not renew unless the clause is evicted from the new contract.

Previous reports have suggested the €7m clause in question was to be lowered, but the newspaper reports De Laurentiis has fully renounced one of his fundamental contractual principles to keep Gattuso at the helm in Campania.

“I don’t believe in contracts,” Gattuso said, according to Tuttomercatoweb. “I work to stay, but I’m old school.

“I want to work with the utmost peace of mind.”
