Norwich 0-1 Stoke City: Etebo warms up for Libya with fine display

Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo warmed up for Liyba with a combative display as he helped Stoke City to a 1-0 away victory against Norwich at Carrow Road.

The former Warri Wolves star was in action for 90minutes for the Potters and picked a yellow card for his troubles in the 83rd minute as his side picked all three points available in the Championship game.

The lone goal came in the first half courtesy an own-goal Timm Klose and the victory left Stoke manager, Gary Rowett excited as he hailed the spirited performance of his players.

“We’ve played better this season and lost games so in some ways it’s nice to win a game and not play very well at all,” Rowett told the clubs official website.

“Of course, I’d like us to pass the ball better than we did today but it’s a different way of winning a game away from home, which is something we haven’t done for a long time.

“At times this season we’ve played expansively but we’ve not defended well enough but in the last two games we’ve looked really solid. Against Bolton in the week we were really expansive whereas today we didn’t play much football.

“But we showed great concentration and it doesn’t matter how you win in this division. It’s about winning.”

The win earned Stoke City their first back-to-back league victories since January 2017 following their 1-0 win over Bolton in midweek. Etebo is expected to bring same energy into the Super Eagles camp as they prepare for a double header against Libya in the 2019 Africa Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifier.
