Nostalgic Nwankwo Kanu hails Arsene Wenger at 70

Former Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has been described as a father figure and a leader who has touched the lives of many positively.

Former international Nwankwo Kanu made the submission while wishing Wenger happy 70th birthday and relieving past memories.  Kanu who supported his submission with a flashback photo of his unveiling at the Emirates,  wished the Frenchman many more years of pleasant experiences.

“Happy 70th birthday and I wish you many more years to a great man, leader and father figure to many. Arsene Wenger. Thanks for the many great memories” he said

Kanu who spent five years at the Emirates scoring 37 goals in 119 appearances is credited to have grown massive African support for the club while he was playing for the side.

Although the two time African footballer of the year who started his soccer career with Iwuanyanwu Nationale now Heartland of Owerri, played for other foreign clubs namely Ajax, Inter Milan, West Brom and Portsmouth, his sojourn and exploits at the Emirates remain indelible in the hearts of most fans.

Birthday man Wenger from outset has never hidden his admiration for Kanu who put his best for the club and indeed all the clubs he played for.

One of kanu’s memorable displays for Arsenal which still gladdens the heart of Wenger and many Arsenal fans was his famous hatrick against Chelsea in 1999.

The former Inter Milan ace miraculously struck three times in the closing 15 minutes with Arsenal trailing by two goals at the Stamford Bridge.

Wenger who is yet to decide on whether or not to re-enter into the coaching arena, left the Emirates last year after 22 years in charge.
