Not yet uhuru for Pinnick as FG orders prosecution

Five days into the New Year strong indications abound that President of Nigeria Football Federation NFF Amaju Pinnick is   set to have rough ride with the law  as President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly ordered his  prosecution  over an alleged multi-billion naira scam in the organisation.

Pinnick who doubles as first Vice President of Confederation of African Football (CAF) according to the report is expected to tell the EFCC all his knows about monies that accrued to the

Glass House from various bodies including FIFA and how the sums were spent, even as the former Delta FA chairman has come under travel ban meaning he will have to remain in the country while the probe lasts.

Recall that Sportinglife.ng had exclusively reported while the World cup was on in Russia that the EFCC had extended invitation to Pinnick who could not honour the said invitation then due to FIFA assignment.

Ironically Pinnick in recent television interview heaped praise on  President Buhari for intervening to save Nigeria from being banned by FIFA following leadership crisis in the Glass House.

“Nigeria was on the verge of being banned by FIFA and the president intervened just two hours left to deadline, If we had been banned the Super Eagles have qualified for the 2019 AFCON they wouldn’t have been able to do that, Super Falcons won the AWCON and qualified for the World cup in France they would have been able to do that our Super Sand Eagles qualified for World cup in Paraguay they would have had that opportunity all these we were able to achieve because of that timely intervention,” he said

Pinnick it will be recalled survived a nail biting battle against Ambassador Chris Giwa over the control of the Glass House leading to near banning of Nigeria by FIFA.
