NPFL: Kennedy Boboye quits Akwa United after poor title runs
Coach Kennedy Boboye has resigned from his position as the Head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Akwa United.
The former Nigerian international threw in the towel, immediately after their goalless draw against struggling Heartland Football Club at home on Sunday.
“Coach Kennedy Boboye has parted ways with reigning NPFL champions Akwa United after a run of poor results in the current Nigeria Professional Football League season.”

“The club wishes Coach Boboye well in his future endeavors.” Akwa United confirmed in a statement on Sunday night.
Boboye took over from Coach John Obuh in December 2019 and led the Promise Keepers to the league crown for the first time in their history last season, but their titles defense hasn’t gone as planned.
Akwa United are currently 8th position on the league standing — with 17 points (four wins, five draws and three defeats) from a possible 36.
They have scored just nine goals in 12 games and has failed to win any of the last three fixtures at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.
