NPFL: Rangers resume new season September 17

Management of Rangers International F.C after an emergency meeting, Thursday, September 2, 2021, has directed that activities for the 2021/2022 season will start on Friday, September 17, 2021 as all retained and new players are expected to return to base.

The G.M/CEO of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Prince Davidson Owumi, who presided over the meeting urged players retained by the technical crew led by coach Salisu Yusuf to make themselves available on the approved date for start of pre-season activities.

Players, coaches and some backroom staff of the seven-time Nigeria league champions have been on break since the end of the 2020/2021 season in August and will be expected back fully rested and eager to challenge for a double in the coming, 2021/2022 football season.

Recall that the technical crew had listed fifteen players for exit from the club’s rank while listing another twelve for recruitment to help it challenge for trophies in the coming season under the technical leadership of coach Salisu Yusuf.

Players expected back for the start of the new season include; Tope Olusesi, Nana Bonsu, Seidu Mutawakilu, Ifeanyi Nweke, Charles Tiesso, Christian Madu, Uche John, Ebuka Anthony, Ernest Governor, Ugochukwu Ugwuoke, Shedrack Asiegbu, Eso Archibong, Daniel Vendaga, Kenechukwu Agu, Christian Nnaji, Elijah Ani, Chidiebere Nwobodo, Chinonso Eziekwe and Tony Eliagwu while the players targeted by the technical team in their report that have been contacted are also expected to hit the coal city on the said date.
