Team Ondo will lock horns with Team Plateau in the finals of the men’s Volleyball event at the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abuja on Friday.
The high-flying Ondo State team who are yet to lose any match in the competition defeated Rivers State team 3-1 (25-22, 25-28, 25-23) at the outdoor court of the National Stadium Package B on Thursday.
Plateau State on the other hand secured a hard fought 3-2 victory over Team Anambra also on Thursday.
Despite the fight back from Anambra to force the 5th set after going 2 straight sets down 19-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, Plateau were able to nick the last set, 15-9 to grab the final ticket.
Also on Friday, Team Rivers will settle for a bronze match against Anambra.
Meanwhile, Team Lagos are through to the final of the women’s Volleyball event after a spirited performance to defeat Team Kaduna 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23,18-16) in the semi final. They will take on Team Delta, who beat Team Enugu by 3 straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-14).
