NTTF AGM ratifies draft Constitution

The maiden edition of the Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) held in Abuja on Tuesday has successfully ratified and approved the draft of its Constitution which will eventually enable the Federation to be autonomous.

An elated President of the NTTF Engineer Ishaku Tikon disclosed to Sportinglife in Abuja  the reason for holding the AGM.

“The NTTF General Assembly is a maiden edition and it came up from the position of the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development that all sports federations should come out their own Constitutions in moving towards becoming autonomous bodies in other not to over depend on the Ministry.

“After the end of our meeting the AGM has ratified the draft Constitution and we are good to go. The next step is to submit it the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) which of course is taking us away to where we can attract investors, partners before beoming autonomous”, Tikon disclosed to Sportinglife.ng.

The NTTF boss who showered praises on the Sports Minister Solomon Dalung for always assisting his Federation through funding of its programs, said the NTTF has been recording successes in major competitions which has helped in its rankings.

“The Sports Ministry has been benevolent enough to have always provided funds for our programs and we are sincerely grateful to the Honourable Minister Solomon Dalung foe his approvals.

“Concerning our programs and successes recorded so far, as I speak our junior cadet are in Accra Ghana for the Junior world cup qualifiers. Already we have picked 6 gold, 6 silver medals in Accra. For the All Africa Games, we have scheduled camping for the end of this month. We will also attend competition in Morocco and I am confident we will be back victorious.

“Finally, we will also be in Budapest in Hungary this month of April for the World Championship”, the NTTF boss summed up.
