Nurmagomedov turned down rematch with Conor McGregor

Nurmagomeodov has apparently turned down $15m to have a second fight with McGregor.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has turned down $15million for a rematch with Conor McGregor , according to the UFC champion’s uncle.

McGregor was soundly beaten by the Russian when he challenged for the lightweight title earlier this month.

The Irishman was submitted in the fourth round having been dominated for the majority of the fight.

He immediately demanded a rematch despite the pair facing a ban from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for their roles in the post-fight riot.

UFC president Dana White confirmed McGregor had asked him for a second bite at the cherry, and now Nurmagomedov’s uncle has claimed an offer has been made.

“[Conor] is not interested in Khabib,” Alex Nurmagomedov told Russian newspaper Sport Express. “He will not fight him for any money. Yes, I know that they are offering him a rematch. From the start, they offered him $15m, if he agrees.

“But Khabib said no. Let Conor stand in line, let him fight with others. Khabib wants to fight [Tony] Ferguson, and then finish his career.”

Nurmagomedov is likely to be sidelined for several months by the commission and could also be slapped with a fine.

The UFC will wait until a ruling is made before deciding whether to strip him of his 155lb belt.

If he continues as champion, he could make the second defence against Ferguson who defeated Anthony Pettis on the UFC 229 card.
