Odey scores winning goal for FC Zurich against Leverkusen in Europa League

Nigeria forward, Steven Odey was again on target for Switzerland club, FC Zurich as they defeated German club, Bayern Leverkusen in their Europa League clash on Thursday night.

Odey who was once on the payroll of Nigeria Professional Football League side (NPFL) side Mountain of Fire and Miracles scored the winning goal and his first in the Europa League in the 78th minute to give the home side a 3-2 victory in the third round of matches.

It was the home side that went ahead a minute before half time through Antonio Marchesano while Karim Bellarabi equalised for the visitors four minutes after the break.

As the second half progressed, Leverkusen scored their second of the night through Bellarabi in the 53rd minute, however it only lasted for six minutes as Toni Domgjoni leveled for the hosts.

Joining the club in October 2017, Odey has continued to impress the club’s management and fans, with his confidence in front of goal regardless of the opposition.

Out of 15 matches played in the Swiss top division, Odey has scored 3 in the league and five in the Super Cup in addition to tonight’s strike to bring his tally to 9 which should increase as the season continues.
