The game was in honour of President George Weah who featured for 79 minutes during the match which Nigeria won 2-1 following goals from Henry Onyekuru and Simeone Nwankwo. Liberia’s goal was scored from the penalty spot after Semi Ajayi handled the ball inside the box.

The players felt honoured playing alongside Weah, who captained the Lone Stars.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria squad were each paid $2,000 by Weah for honouring his invitation.
