Super Eagles and Hapoel Beer Sheva defensive midfielder, John Ogu says he remains delighted to have captained the national team against Liberia in Tuesday’s night exhibition match in Monrovia which he won’t forget in a hurry.
“I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. Leading my country with such a wonderful talents in a game against Liberia with the president of Liberia and the only African player to win the ballon d or . I feel blessed,” he tweeted.
The game was in honour of President George Weah who featured for 79 minutes during the match which Nigeria won 2-1 following goals from Henry Onyekuru and Simeone Nwankwo. Liberia’s goal was scored from the penalty spot after Semi Ajayi handled the ball inside the box.
The players felt honoured playing alongside Weah, who captained the Lone Stars.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria squad were each paid $2,000 by Weah for honouring his invitation.
